Ameet ShahCo-Founder and Co-Chairman

Ameet Shah brings considerable experience in executing and implementing complex projects. He works with Astonfield’s financial, technical and government partners to ensure profitability of each individual project, ultimately leading to successful implementation. Under Mr. Shah’s leadership, Astonfield has been able to form important partnerships with leading IPPs such as T-Solar of Spain as well as international engineering, procurement and construction companies (EPCs) such as Isolux Corsan of Spain, juwi of Germany and Schneider Electric of France.

Mr. Shah is the founder and Managing Partner of Mosaic Capital Advisors. Prior to Mosaic, Mr. Shah worked at HSBC Asset Management Limited in various roles in Hong Kong, London and New York. He subsequently moved to Salomon Brothers in Hong Kong and joined the investment team that oversaw the Salomon Brothers Asia Growth Fund. Mr. Shah is an Economics graduate of Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. He is currently a member of the United States Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee since December 2012.

Sourabh Sen Co-Founder and Co-Chairman

Mr. Sen is responsible for aligning Astonfield’s operational endeavors with government policy. As Co-Chairman of Astonfield, Mr. Sen oversees all government relations and lobbying efforts and provides macro-level operational and strategic guidance to Astonfield’s Global Executive Committee. Prior to co-founding Astonfield in 2005, Mr. Sen served as Executive Vice President of National Life Insurance Company until 2008 and Executive Vice President of First Investors Corporation from 1999 to 2005. Mr. Sen has extensive global expertise in asset management, cross border investments, strategic acquisitions and working with national governments on asset privatizations.

Mr. Sen was awarded the 2013 Man of the Year Award from Viki Publishers and Byatikram Mass Awareness and Social Development Organisation (MASDO), an NGO dedicated to strengthening social and cultural richness in Northeast India. He was also honored with the 2009 Udyog Rattan Award from the Institute of Economic Studies for his pioneering contributions toward developing the renewable energy industry in India.

As an alumnus of Don Bosco Schools, Mr. Sen is actively involved in a number of charitable and humanitarian causes in the state of West Bengal, India. Additionally, Mr. Sen is on the Board of Advisors of The Odyssey Initiative, an educational based firm studying primary schools across America. Mr. Sen completed his B.Sc from the University of Burdhwan. He was Board certified and admitted to practice financial advisory and planning services in the U.S. in 1996.

Afsar Ebrahim

Mr. Ebrahim is presently the Deputy Group Managing Partner of BDO in Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Seychelles, the largest professional services firm in Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Ebrahim has performed a large number of operational and financial audits and advisory services with a portfolio of clients operating in a wide range of sectors including Telecommunications, Banking, Sugar, Insurance and Corporate and Investment Banking. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has over 20 years of professional experience in setting-up new businesses, Corporate Restructuring, Litigation Support, Mergers & Acquisitions, raising of funds and Auditing and Financial Consulting.

Gyaneshwarnath (Gary) Gowrea

Mr. Gowrea is Managing Director at Cim Taxand, part of the Cim Group in Mauritius. Mr. Gowrea is an internationally respected figure and one of the senior tax professionals in Mauritius. He specialises in international tax and advises clients all over the world. Mr. Gowrea has been a speaker at several local and international conferences. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (UK), Member of the International Fiscal Association, and holds a Diploma in International Taxation. He completed his MSc in Accounting from De Monfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom.

Gowreeshankursing (Babu) Rajpati

Mr. Rajpati is the Director of the Sugar, Energy and Trade Division at BDO. From 1986 to 2009, Mr. Rajpati served as the Executive Director of the Mauritius Sugar Authority and has vast experience and network in matters relating to sugar, Renewable Energy, International Trade and Land Development. Mr. Rajpati is a holder of Docteur Ingénieur Agronome from the Institut National Agronomique of Paris, France. He was also a part-time Lecturer at the University of Mauritius, Faculty of Agriculture in Soil Chemistry, Food Science and Pesticide Chemistry.

Jayesh Shah

Mr. Shah is Managing Director and CEO of Sumaria Group, one of the leading private corporations in East and Central Africa with significant International operations. Established in the 1940s, Sumaria’s business profile includes consumer goods, manufacturing, agro-processing and management services. Mr. Shah has twice been awarded as one of the "Top 15 most respected CEOs in East Africa" by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He is the 1st Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Tanzania Industry (CTI) and board member of the Management & Development for Health, a leading non-profit Tanzanian public health organization. Mr. Shah was previously a board member of Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania. Mr. Shah has a Bachelor of Science in Management from Lancaster University, England.
