Through a strategic partnership between Astonfield Renewables and Solesa its first project, a 100 KW ground-mounted solar-diesel hybrid system was commissioned in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Located in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, Astonfield Solesa’s ground-mounted solar-diesel hybrid system can save commercial and industrial businesses up to 30-40 percent on their diesel fuel costs. Its innovative solar PV-diesel hybrid system, the Hybrid Power Controller, integrates solar PV with existing diesel generators and grid power to deliver low-cost uninterrupted power supply.
This solar-diesel hybrid system reduces costs by feeding uninterrupted power to the factory from a combination of three generation sources, solar, diesel gensets and the power grid. This plant consists of 384 solar PV modules and two diesel gensets, all of which are controlled by the Hybrid Power Controller, which enables the plant operator to prioritize consumption of the most cost-effective power source at any given time. The system is expected to produce close to 150MWh per year.
